Ideas for Preschoolers:

Color Matching, Counting and Shape Sorting

Here are a few fun activities for kids when teaching them the colors, numbers and shapes.

Get some Styrofoam cups. Cover the outside and inside with colored construction paper.  Have the kids put colored pom poms or foam beads in the matching colored cup.

I like these "Beads 2 Lace" because you can also put each shape in a cup and have the preschooler match the beads to the correct cup by shape.

Put numbers  on some Styrofoam cups.  Have the child count out the correct number of pom poms or foam beads for each cup.

Get a bunch of different kinds of pasta.  Place one piece of each kind in a cup.  Have the child match the rest of the pasta to the correct cup.
